4th of July quilts, pillows and decorations

Summer is the perfect time to decorate in pretty red, white and blue. Last year a quilting friend gave me a pack of layer cakes in red, white and blue. I almost immediately pieced this cute top and put it away for a few months. With 4th of July coming up so fast, it is time to finish this beauty.  I decided on the panto "curls" and the binding needs to go on next.

Pretty light colored cream fabric from my stash for the backing.

I made these buntings from leftover red, white and blue fabric. A red quilt and pillows on the bench to brighten up the entryway.

A few red with polka dots bows here and there in the living room.

I had a few layer cakes left and used  them in another string of buntings.

I changed out the scrapbook paper with a cute red, white and blue star paper.

I made this cute little flag pillow. 

I had 2 extra blocks leftover from the quilt and made 2 more pillows. It didn't take me long to end up with 10 pillows...can you tell I love pillows. I make covers and use the same pillow inserts.

I turned some of the pillows for a different look.

I used the same wreath all the time and just change the ribbon and flowers.

The blue wreath and blue pillows with the red geraniums perfect for summer.

Gardening is my other passion after quilting and decorating. I planted these red knockout roses a few years ago and thy are so pretty in the garden.

One of my new roses, a red roe with whit stripes. 

Back to my quilting room, I hope I can get the binding on before the weekend.

Decorating for st. Patrick's day

As you all probably already know, I really enjoy decorating for the seasons without spending so much money on seasonal decorations. I enjoy decorating for the seasons with the seasonal colors. Like for Christmas I love green and red quilts and pillows. For Valentines day I love red and pink quilts and pillows.

So now for St. Patricks day green is the color!

Everything is green!

Recently I discovered my passion for making buntings and how simple it is using my quilters triangle ruler.

Here’s my newest bunting in St. Patrick's day green.

I like to buy unfinished wooden letters from Hobby Lobby and then paint them myself. Here I spelt out the word ‘Luck’ for this seasons decorations.

On the bench is my new green yo-yo pillow.

I flipped over a strip quilt because the back was a nice green color.

My whole entry way for this season.

Another string of green buntings I made really quickly for this season.

Some of you will notice this metal ‘Live’ decoration from Christmas. A painted over it in green for a really inexpesive decoration modification.

Here’s my dollar black frame that I painted over to match the new clover scratch paper picture inside.

Pink and red heart quilt

 

I finished my little red and pink heart quilt. I quilted an allover heart pattern in a very light pink quilting thread.  A scrappy pink and red binding finished off the quilt.

The sweet little heart quilt goes so well with the heart decorations and pillows.

I've also been making more yo yo's, but I am not sure where I'm going to use them, maybe on a quilt or more pillows. 

I have been making so many pink and red pillows and a quilts, so I needed a break and made a small green bunting garland.

With all my quilting, my home especially my quilting room, needed a good cleaning. Most of these nasty dust bunnies came out of my quilting room. 

My quilting table needed some serious organization. I got an old glass jar from the kitchen for the yo yo's.

Every time I do a good cleaning I also like to switch things around. I had all these almost empty spools of longarm thread laying around on my table. I will use these spools on my sewing machine in the future. I found this old flower vase and it's a nice container for the thread.

I see my sewing table is a little open. I received this dust cover with my machine and never used it before. The bins above my table need to be organized...but I did enough cleaning for today(:

And I have a few more unfinished green buntings for a longer garland next to my sewing machine.

I wish I can play all day, but I need to finish a few customer quilts. I have Jana's Kaffe Fasset quilt on my longarm.
