Two finished quilts

I finished two new quilts. The first one is this jelly roll quilt I started more than a year ago and the second quilt is a fast charm square quilt. I really like this jelly roll quilt. Not only do I like the colors and the design, but I also like the simple white border and colored binding. I washed the quilt twice and it is becoming softer with each wash.

I had just enough of this green flowery fabric for the backing.

Here is my other finished quilt. I wanted to make something for the winter season and it had to be a fast pattern. I sewed together charm squares, most of them are Christmas and winter snowflake prints. I also added a few random squares to break up the green and red Christmas pallet. I wanted a quilt I can use after Christmas too.

I pieced several pieces of brown and tan fabric together to make the backing.

The quilt is bundled up under my gingerbread Christmas tree.

The neutral cream border and the peach and blue charm squares make the quilt usable for Christmas and winter. 

Dear husband's golf clubs behind the chair. I dare not move his precious golf clubs.  In exchange he tolerates my ever changing decorating style. I try to stay with a "less is more" approach, but often I can go overboard with my quilts and decorating.

Finished Charm Quilt

 

 The best part of quilting for me is when I have a finished quilt. I just finished this cute charm pack quilt. In the picture below is the unwashed quilt which matches so well with my daughter's orange sneakers. Orange is her favorite color, I think she has three pairs of orange shoes. She is a teenager and loves her orange shoes.

 Quilt is washed and right out of the dryer. I am thrilled at how the quilt crinkled up after the first wash. This one has Hobbs 80/20 cotton batting like most of my quilts. 

 I am glad I went with a solid red binding. Love it!.

 Just for fun a few pictures of the quilts on my bed. My favorite string quilt with the yo-yo quilt at the end of the bed.

 I love this yo-yo quilt and I'm thinking of starting another one. I sewed random yo-yos on a quilted white piece of fabric. It is fun to make the yo-yos with the yo-yo maker.

Happy quilts

 My quilts make me happy and I love to create quilts from my stash. I have a finished Hugs and Kisses quilt. It washed up beautifully and I love how the quilts crinkled up after that first wash.

 Not only do I enjoy making quilts, but I absolutely love the quilting process. I can do it all day long, I wish I never have to cook and clean. lol I quilted this bright top for Jana.

 She used a panel, the border on the left is a cut-up panel.

 Scrappy quilts are my favorite and Julie makes the most beautiful scrappy quilts. She used 1" strips to make this Jewel Box quilt.

 I did not do a lot of cleaning, but a lot of quilting for myself. This weekend I will have to do some housework. I like how the Bubbles quilting turned out on this little quilt.

Blue backing from my stash, although this is a very traditional piece of fabric I think it goes well with the more modern charms. I like to use old fabric from my stash with the more modern tops.

This will be a cute happy little quilt when it is done. My youngest daughter's favorite color is orange and there is a lot of it in this quilt.

 I like this one too. I do like blue and purple, the colors calm me down. And with all the stress going on in the world I need more calmness around me.

 I love the 1930's reproduction fabrics and I adore how the quilting on my Whirlygig's turn out.

 Very old green fabric from my stash for the backing, I think I have had it for more than ten years.

 My zig-zag quilt has been quilted. I like how the quilting on the white fabrics shows up so nicely.

 

 

 Now with all the quilts I have finished, I have a lot of binding work left to do. I have my Hugs and Kisses quilt displayed in my quilting room.

Two Charm Square Quilts

 My Charm Square Quilt is all done and washed. I used three "Terrain" charm packs,  "Snow" Kona Cotton for the sashings and 100% Hobbs batting.

Amy Smart has a great charm square tutorial called "Baby Lattice Quilt" on the Moda Bake Shop over here.

I enjoy this quilt so much and it is hanging in my quilting room. I have a curtain rod on the wall for displaying quilts. I got the rod at Target for under $25, not bad at all.

 Here is my"Summer Breeze" charm pack quilt. I had so many sashing strips leftover from the previous charm square quilt. I used three charm packs in a straight setting.

Below is how the quilt looked before it went in the washing machine.

I used 80/20 Bleached (white) batting.

This is how it crinkled up after I took it out of the dryer.  I  love washed, crinkled quilts.

I went with a light blue solid Kona Cotton (Blue Bell)  for the border and binding.

 The quilting panto is called "Bluebell", so perfect for this quilt.

I was so lucky, I found this navy fabric with light blue and white flowers in my stash for the backing.

After laying the quilt on my bed, I decided I would like to make another charm quilt big enough for my bed.  When that someday will be, I am not sure.
