String and Rail Fence quilts

How is your week going? I had lots of fun with my strings again. I quilted my blue, yellow and green string quilt. I am so happy with how it turned out. Quilting is a great stress reliever for me
 Blue and yellow scrappy backing
I quilted my little Rail Fence quilt too. It is such a bright and happy quilt.
I really like the blue borders. Blue is my favorite color. I am going to give this quilt to daughter number two and orange is her favorite color.
 Orange dot backing
I pulled out this jelly roll UFO. The blocks were done, so I just had to sew the blocks together.
This is all for today and happy quilting,
Millie

More Strings

I just finished the binding on my 30's String Quilt. This is definitely going to be one of my favorite quilts. It went through the washer and dryer one time and crinkled up so nicely.
I used most of the leftover strings from my 30's Disappearing Four patch quilt in this String quilt.
I love gardening and therefore could not resist using this rose fabric on the back of the string quilt.
The red binding just pops. I love it.
While I was watering my potplants, a beautiful blue butterfly came to say "hi". He is on the leftside of the top flower pot.

Isn't it a beautiful butterfly? I don't think it's a coincidence that it came the day before my birthday. :)
What makes this butterfly moment even more magical is that I started this Butterfly String quilt and began with the machine quilting an hour before I took the pictures.  I found this cute Butterfly tutorial over at Freshlemonsquilts over here. This is the fastest String quilt I have made so far.

I always have more than one project going on at the same time. I started a Bow Tie quilt in red, pink, green and yellow.
Wishing you all a happy and magical summer,
Millie

String Quilts

I am on a string quilt mode. There is something about sewing these random strips together and making a beautiful string quilt. I just finished the quilting on my 1930's string quilt.
I used cona cotton snow for the middle strips.
I think this red rose fabric for the backing is so pretty with the thirties strings. Nobody said I have to use thirties reproduction fabric on the back. I am making and breaking my own rules.
I am going to use this solid red fabric for the binding.
Seven months old Molly is testing out the new string quilt.
 I started another string quilt.
 A few finished blocks.
Untill later and happy quilting,
Millie

Yo-yos and strings

I am done with the yo-yo quilt. The quilt has been washed and crinkled up.
 Green backing.
I painted the bathroom this pretty blue color and spray painted the old light fixtures black.
I enjoy my machine quilting a lot more than painting the bathroom.
I quilted this Jellyroll race quilt for Marinell.
I finished the quilting on Jana's quilt too.
For relaxation I took my 1930's strings out and started another string quilt. There is something about  string quilts that makes me so happy.
Happy Quilting,
Millie

Finished Charm Quilt

The best part of quilting for me is when I have a finished quilt. I just finished this cute charm pack quilt. In the picture below is the unwashed quilt which matches so well with my daughter's orange sneakers. Orange is her favorite color, I think she has three pairs of orange shoes. She is a teenager and loves her orange shoes.
Quilt is washed and right out of the dryer. I am thrilled at how the quilt crinkled up after the first wash. This one has Hobbs 80/20 cotton batting like most of my quilts.
I am glad I went with a solid red binding. Love it!.
Just for fun a few pictures of the quilts on my bed. My favorite string quilt with the yo-yo quilt at the end of the bed.
I love this yo-yo quilt and I'm thinking of starting another one. I sewed random yo-yos on a quilted white piece of fabric. It is fun to make the yo-yos with the yo-yo maker.
Happy quilting until next time,
Millie
