I had so much fun quilting my Layer Cake Quilt. Now I just have to make the binding and finish the quilt. I am very pleased at how the quilting turned out.
Matching borders.
I had this huge piece of cream grape fabric for almost five years. Finally, it's in this quilt for the backing.

It was fun to make a quilt with a layer cake, jellyroll and coordinating fabrics. But I just couldn't go out and buy all new jelly rolls so I had to make my own from my stash. Most fabrics in this red, white and blue quilt top are very old. The quality on most of these fabrics weren't as good. I just need to add a border to finish it up.
I have plenty more red and blue strips but I'm a bit tired of them. I'm definitely going to wait awhile before I use them again. :)
I quilted this flower top for Christy in NV.
Here's a close up of the flower fabric which she used to design the quilt around.
Love your layer cake quilt! And what a good idea to cut your own jelly roll strips. Why don't I ever think of that? LOL

ReplyDeleteThe RWB is stunning as well. We shold all make jelly rolls with our fabrics. What fun!
Wow, Millie, you've been busy! Isn't that "Nostalgia" in your layer cake quilt? It is such a pretty line of fabric. And I like your red, white and blue rails, too! The backing on your first one (Piece of Cake pattern?) is so perfect, and as always your quilting is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI just love dropping by to visit your blog...so many wonderful things to see!

ReplyDeleteFantastic layer cake quilt...yummy! You've done a fantastic job Millie!!
ReplyDeleteI've been cutting strips of my own stash too to make my own jelly rolls. I hope someday you will get a chance to hear Bonnie Hunter speak at a guild on her scrap user's system.
Oh, Millie I love your layer cake quilt - details, pattern, etc. Please!!!
ReplyDeleteThe other quilts are wonderful.
I love that you so readily use a pantograph and each and every quilt looks fabulous. :-)
Layer colors fabulous...I agree, what pattern did you use with the layer cake? I like your quilting pattern with this also. Have a "sweet" week, maybe some with jelly rolls too!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting!!!
Your red white and blue rail fence is about the prettiest 3 strip rail fence I've ever seen. Maybe it is cause the white is not in the middle. Good job!
